AOSR AsiaSafe’s ‘Magnetic Resonance Imaging Safety in Asia-Oceania: Call for Action" paper was published online in January 2025 in the Japanese Journal of Radiology. It outlined ten critical points to enhance MRI safety practices. To build upon this Call for Action - AsiaSafer is spearheading a series of MRI safety webinars. The MRI Safety webinar series aims to highlight the importance of MRI safety and sharing of best practices, promote a culture of safety and excellence in radiology departments and imaging facilities.
To kick off the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) safety series from AOSR’s AsiaSafe were two of AOSR’s MRI Safety Ambassadors, Dr Rijo Mathew speaking on ‘MRI Safety: Bridging the Gap’ and Dr Elaine Kan on ‘MRI Safety – Our Journey at Hong Kong Children’s Hospital’. This first webinar was on April 29, 2025.
The second in the series on the theme of Implementing Change Through Education and Expertise took place on May 30, 2025 with Dr KS Manoj from KIMS Institute, Kerala India and our AOSR President Dr Chamaree Chuapetcharasopon speaking.
There was good feedback on the initiative and a very encouraging live viewership of 150 for the 1st webinar from 16 countries/region. Let's keep the conversation going and take action on MRI Safety. Remember it does not matter if your MRI service is in a low, middle or high resource - we all can do our bit to make MRI safe.
